4 out of 5 stars Great purchase   June 20, 2010

I have now purchased two of this same headlamp as gifts: one for my husband and one for my father. They both use them to work on cars in the dark and love them. I recommend also purchasing rechargeable batteries. It has a variable brightness and the lamp tilts.

5 out of 5 stars Words great   June 7, 2010

My wife and I have used these kinds of lights for over 10 years and this is top of the line, in our experience. I could live without the flashing red light when the batteries start to go, since it becomes obvious without that light, and it just uses more battery power. When there is no difference between the high and low brightness settings, you know it is time to change the batteries; don't need a flashing red light to tell you that.

As a side note, when walking, we wear these around our necks instead of on our foreheads. They don't get in the way of hats, and the light stays on the trail/street when you turn your head. If you do need light elsewhere, it is easy to aim the light with your hand. And you can open the clip to adjust the distance the light shines ahead of you even when it's around your neck.

Recently purchased, used it once camping. It failed to work when testing to get ready for a 2nd camping trip. When I opened the battery compartment it was all corroded inside. Don't know why as the 1st use was NOT in rain or damp situation and I kept it in a baggie to protect from moisture in any case. So, not my idea of a quality product.

Small, powerful and battery life is good. You can't get a better quality light that's waterproof with regulated output for less money. This light is a great value and it's Made in the USA!

I bought this to replace my working petzl tika lamp. I use rechargeables because I use this light everyday for work as trim carpenter. Works fine. Slightly better than the petzl one because it has a low power setting that makes the batteries last a little longer. It got good recommendations by consumersearch who said the batteries lasted a long time, but I think it is only a little better than the petzl tika one. The switch and battery change are much easier than the petzl. Low power is plenty for me in a dark room to take a measurement. I would recommend. I'm still looking for one that can run for 4-5 8 hour days on low power with rechargables before needing a change.
