Amazon.com Product Description
Designed for athletes in training, the Suunto T4 wrist-top computer teams with the integrated Foot Pod to monitor your progress and make intelligent workout recommendations for frequency, duration, and intensity. The unit is built around the Suunto Coach feature, which generates a five-day plan for improving your aerobic condition. Employing Training Effect technology, it tells you which days to work out with information on duration and intensity. If you accept a recommended workout, the Suunto T4 guides you through the session to make sure you receive the proper training load. If you decline a recommended workout in favor of a rest day or non-recommended workout, however, the T4 continues to monitor and adapt by adjusting your five-day plan accordingly.

The lightweight, water-resistant Foot Pod, meanwhile, attaches quickly and easily to any lace-up shoe (no need to untie your laces), where it measures your foot speed in seconds (4.5- to 16.5-foot range) or miles per hour (3.4 to 12.4 mph range). The Foot Pod also operates equally well in cold or hot temperatures. Other T4 details include measurements for heart rate, calories burned, and distance; a three-tier zone training system with alarms; and a wristwatch with dual time, date, and alarm modes.

I bought the Marathon pack a couple of weeks ago and I have recorded 8 different training sessions. I really like the ability to download the logs onto the computer and see your improvements and differences between sessions. The coach I think will become more useful when I have recorded a bit more data and it has a better idea of my average week. The strap as mentioned in other reviews is a little annoying, but in my opinion the best looking for the T4, so I trrimmed it down and put a dob of glue to stop it coming loose. The Menu system is a little confusing at first, and probably harder to get used to if you've always used a Polar, but I have no problems with it. I have had no problems with the footpod, other than forgettting to turn it on (not really suunto's fault). I have found the T4 a great tool to keep myself motivated and interested in running. (This is the first HRM I've owned/tried so I think it would be unfair to give it 5* without testing another)

5 out of 5 stars Learning coaching from running strengh makes clear Guide for Health   April 10, 2007

Learning coach including in the Suunto T4 with pc-pod and foot pod reveal running strength is adequate or not.
One of the impressive point is the coaching is not limitted to the data inputted into initial setting. The coaching is a self-learning teacher living in the watch.
Of course, for a speciallist, there is no need to learn running strength for health promotion or improve his body.
As to me who has not enough knowledge and experience, very usuful guide which is shown in the watch windows and PC-software.

5 out of 5 stars Best Training Tool ever   March 8, 2007

I was a bit hesitate to purchase the marathon pack, I felt it was a bit more than I needed, but after utilizing all the accessories I deemed it the best training tool ever. It is the simplest way to track overall all performance, effort, and training effect. The Suunto marathon pack provides more than just a watch to keep track of laps, but if you want it to, it will also be a little coach letting you know to speed up, slow down, and relax. If you are just looking for a watch this is not for you, but if you want the versatility of a complete training tool, partner, and coach, I suggest you get one yourself.
